Reaching Out
So when they met together, they asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?" He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:6-8, NIV

Giving Away Free Stuff in Jesus' Name
We believe that church should not just take place within a building on Sunday mornings and periodically during the week, but in our community every day. Therefore, we look for specific opportunities to "take Jesus to the streets" and let people know that Jesus loves them in a practical sort of way. Here is a list of the ways we intend to do that this year.
Koinonia Cafe -- free community dinner every Thursday
Fireworks Party (June 24, 2007) -- Come sit out in the church lawn to watch them set off the fireworks across the street. Free popcorn, Pepsi, and water for everyone! Come early with your lawn chairs and blankets to get a spot for your family.
Free Community Carnival (July 7, 2007) -- win prizes and play games as a family! Click here for more info!
Free tailgate parties --before every Bryan Varsity Football home game. Come for free popcorn, hot drinks, and hotdogs! Park at FBC, grab a dog, and head over to the game! Come early before the parking places and free food runs out!
Free Christmas gift wrapping -- we'll be located in town (possibly KMart?) ready to wrap whatever gifts you have for your loved ones. Just tell us how you want it wrapped and our gift-wrapping specialists will wrap it up nice for you... at absolutely no charge or donation!
Look for other exciting ways we'll be out and about this year giving away free stuff that you could use all to show you that Jesus loves you in a practical sort of way! You never know what else we'll come up with!

Mission Trip to Mississippi!
From Pastor Bill Ludwig, Director of Church Planting, of The Brethren Church...
"Hurricane Katrina hit the gulf coasts of Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana so hard that nearly all residential and municipal infrastructures were destroyed within a half-mile of the coastline. In the early days of recovery it became apparent that more than just property and material were washed away by the killer waves and devastating winds. For the survivors, the end of the storm brought a new reality of personal brokenness.
"The
Church heard the call of broken hearts and broken lives and responded with
overwhelming obedience and speed. Those who answered the call in those early
days of recovery saw the Spirit of God move in powerful ways with a great
harvest of souls brought into new life through Christ. That great work is
ongoing and your name has been added to the list of those God has called to
join in his mission!
Next Trip: March 1-8, 2008
Cost: $150/person for the 6 days. Includes on-site meals, lodging and a donation for project expenses; gas and travel expenses are extra.
