Your First Visit

your first visitVisiting a new church for the first time can be an intimidating adventure. We know. Many of us have been in your shoes before. Let us help make your first visit a little easier...

Dress

We dress casual and comfortable. You'll see people wearing anything from jeans to dress pants. Men don't often wear ties and usually save suit coats for special events like weddings, funerals, Easter services or Christmas services. Ladies don't often wear dresses, but it's not uncommon among our older folks. Come comfortable, but know that t-shirts and jeans or sweatshirts may make you stand out a bit. No one will comment on your clothing whatever you wear, so don't let it bother you too much.

Music

Music can express feelings that mere words cannot. It's an important piece of our worship. Most of us participate in the singing. If you know the songs, feel free to sing along. If you don't, just listen to the words and find the moment in the music. No one will stare at you if you're not participating. Some people raise their hands during singing time, most do not. Whatever you feel is most comfortable for you. Also, we usually stand to sing. It helps us sing better (at least that's what our choir teachers taught us). If you can't stand or feel more comfortable sitting, go for it! Again, no one is really gonna mind what you do either way.

Offering

As our guest, we don't expect you to give. If we're passing plates, simply pass it on. We feel offering is part of our way to express our worship to God. We also give because we want to support the ministry of our church. We believe God is making a difference through our ministry, so we contribute. Our ministry is YOU, so don't feel expected to give. It's your choice.

Where to Go

Main EntranceWhen you arrive, there are two entrances: one on the side of the church where you'll find the playground and another where you find the drive-through canopy. Pictured is the main entrance and it would probably be most helpful to enter there on your first visit.

If you have children, you ALWAYS have the option to keep them with you. Often, you won't be the only one with children in the service. However, you might check out our Children's Ministry pages to learn more about what you can expect with our excellent children's program.

If you arrive for Sunday school, there are a list of groups here. Our classes are grouped in various ways and are very good at welcoming visitors.

steps up or downIf you arrive for the worship service, you'll want to go UP the stairs. If stairs are a problem for you, there is an elevator located at the main entrance. One of our greeters would be happy to assist you if you need it. As you go upstairs, you'll notice the large double-door entryway. You can enter through there and find your way into the sanctuary. Sit anywhere you like! You won't take anyone's seat. There is a space provided for wheel chairs toward the middle of the seating area if this would pertain to you. As a general note, the front seats are usually vacant, so sitting somewhere toward the middle or back would probably be most comfortable for you.

At the End

At the end of the service, our pastors will issue you some sort of challenge to make a change in your life. It's a challenge offered to everyone. If God has laid something on your heart when you visit, come up afterward to the front and speak with our pastor. He'd be happy to either pray with you himself or connect you with someone who is more appropriate to serve you. If you'd rather just stay quiet about it, don't leave with something on your heart. We want to serve you! In our lobby by the library there is a booth with a clear box on top. Simply fill out one of the connection cards in it and we'll connect with you the following week. If you'd like to sit down and speak to one of our pastors, let us know! We'll make it happen!
