Children's Ministry

“Jesus loved the little children,” the old children’s song goes. We take children’s ministry seriously at First Brethren Church.  All of our children’s workers have gone through the process of criminal background checks for the safety of our children and the workers themselves.

Children can expect a range of games, crafts, visual aids, their own personalized worship time, and discipleship on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights during our children’s meeting times. Each child is welcomed and loved by children’s workers who are gifted and talented in working with children.

We are using Faith Weaver curriculum for all ages so  every student has the same Bible story and parents can discuss the story with their children.

Sunday Morning Opportunities

Nursery I

During both our Sunday school hour (9:30 - 10:15) and during our church hour (begins at 10:30) we have dedicated volunteers to take care of your infant to two year old in the back of our sanctuary.  We encourage new parents to take advantage of this service so they can also get plugged into a Sunday school class or get some time to just focus on God during the church hour.

Kids on the Run

For your toddler (18 months - 3), we have well-equipped volunteers during both the Sunday school and church segments of Sunday morning.  These volunteers do their best at giving your child the very beginnings of God's word.  We provide basic Bible stories and simple crafts or simply care for your child with the love of Christ, these saints volunteer their time faithfully so you can better grow in our adult Sunday schools and worship time.

Kids 4 Christ (ages 4- kindergarten)

Kids on the Run is for children who are age 4 years old- kindergarten. We teach God's Word by using Faith Weaver curriculum that weaves faith into life.  Each week we focus on a Bible story and then connect the story to the students' life. During the church hour the students will continue the study of the same Bible story. 

Kids of Service (grades 1-2) 

Kids of Service is for children in first grade-2nd grade.  The students are using Faith Weaver curriculum.  This curriculum helps the student weave the Bible story into his/her daily life.  The students concentrate on this same story during the church hour.

Kids of Mission(grades 3-4)

Kids of mission is for students 3rd-4th grade.   Faith Weaver curriculum weaves the Bible story into the students life.  The students concentrate on the same story during the church hour.

Summer Church Camp

Each summer our students are given the opportunity to spend a week at Camp Shipshewana in Shipshewana, IN. There are a range of different camps available for our students. The First Brethren Church offers a 50% scholarship to those who would like it to help with the cost of church camp. Camp Shipshewana also offers scholarships to new campers, friends of campers, a multi-camp discount ($100 off if you attend more than one camp during the summer), and more.
